Prenatal Assessment for Lactation, or 1:1 Breastfeeding Class
This visit may last up to 2 hours and includes a comprehensive history review and breast assessment. Great for first time moms or moms who have had previous breastfeeding challenges! We can discuss prior health issues as well, such as PCOS, IGT, low milk supply, fertility challenges, diabetes, anatomical differences, and others. We will develop a plan of action for breastfeeding after your baby is born, teach basic positions and newborn care and work to make you feel ready!
In-home Lactation Consult
This visit usually includes a thorough history, observation and assessment of breastfeeding, a customized care plan, hands on adjustments, and an optional report to your health care provider(s). It generally takes about 2-3 hours, to work through a detailed history and make alterations in the course of breastfeeding. We can take the time we need to talk over your concerns about breastfeeding: babies that won't latch at all, babies that latch but it's painful, babies that nurse 24/7 and are not gaining weight well, sleepy jaundiced babies, inducing lactation for an adopted baby, tongue tie, breastfeeding multiples, nipple pain, breast infection, thrush, low supply concerns, acute or chronic pain, insufficient weight gain, PCOS, breastfeeding after breast surgery, anxiety or maybe even infant sleep challenges. This is your time to talk about what is happening for you.
*In-home Follow Up Consultant
This visit includes reassessment of breastfeeding and adjustments to the care plan, if needed. We can talk about new breastfeeding positions, infant weight gain, coping with parental stress and if there is a new concern, then we can sit and and find a solution that works for your family. Follow ups take about 1-2 hours.
Back to Work Consult
This is a visit especially for mothers who work outside of home or will be returning to school. We will discuss your goals and your work environment. I will assist you in creating a plan for preparing for work and help with setting up and using your breast pump. If you have a partner or family members who will be caring for your baby, then we can all sit together and work out a feeding plan, and discuss feeding practices that are supportive of breastfeeding. Not sure how much milk to leave? Unclear how to store breastmilk? We can talk about that too.
Payment for Lactation Care is Due at the End of the Session
I will offer you a receipt for payment with a bill for your insurance company if you would like one. *Not all insurance companies will reimburse for lactation consultant visits but I have had very good success with Google and Uber employees and I am in-network with Aetna and Hill Physicians.
It is your responsibility to check with your insurance carrier about their policy beforehand, and the obligation of payment is yours regardless of insurance or other third party involvement. Fees for services can be located here.
